The Red Diamond Jewel is a Cichlid from West Africa unlike most of the African Cichlids, whose ancestors lived in the Great Lakes in East Africa. Red Diamond Jewel Cichlids grow fast to about 6" long and are often kept in aquariums with Mbunas Cichlids from Lake Malawi. Mbunas and Jewels seem to be compatible.
