Born and raised in Jefferson City, Missouri, Read Klos is a 2nd generation jeweler/gemologist. Read learned the jewelry business under his father’s supervision. He attended the Gemological Institute of America located in Santa Monica, California.

His bother Jay had owned Grogan jewelers since 1985 and was looking to expand his store from Florence, Alabama to Huntsville. Read wanted to get back to a more intimate setting, as he grew up in a city where everyone knew your name. Huntsville was a perfect fit. In 1999, Read opened Klos Diamond Center, which has flourished ever since.
