The Jewelers Building at 15-17 Wabash Avenue between East Monroe and East Madison Streets in the Loop community area of Chicago in Cook County, Illinois, United States was built in 1881-1882 and was designed by Dankmar Adler and Louis Sullivan. Jun 02, 2016 · When the 40-story Jeweler’s Building was first built in the 1920s, the dome seems to have sat empty for some time. In 1932 it was reported in the Tribune that a hawk had taken up residence in the dome and was preying on migratory birds in the loop. A reference or two in the archives seems to indicate that it was used for storage.
